So I have a job at Best Buy. Theoretically I love it. I get to talk about computer, sell computers, generally do stuff with computers. Granted I'm just there to gather a pay check while selling stuff I like, but I'm not getting a warm and fuzzy feeling from most people. I feel like I come off as just too uncool, awkward, or just downright retarded... which I may be. Last night, our store got flooded and this experience just reconfirmed my theory on the fact that no one there has any interest in treating me like one of the crew. For example, after the initial shock of the flooding died down, I asked the Geek Squad guys if they needed me to help out moving some of the products behind the counter before they got drenched. The response was a mocking, "only guys with ties are allowed back in the Precinct". No shit Sherlock... I meant the stuff around your precious "guys with ties" section. Other scenarios throughout the night just started to piss me off. They shouldn't have, but they did.

When the store isn't flooding, no one, besides a select few people (and by "few" I do mean like four) even bother to say hey, or acknowledge my existence. Meanwhile, it seems the new home theater department guy who was hired with me is making tons of new friends and are more than willing to help him be part of the team (even to a point where they help him with certification). I don't think anyone gives a shit if I pass anything at this point.

I'm in no way trying to come off as a person who absolutely needs acceptance, but a little would be nice. I feel like the pathetic new person who will never find their place in the store and will always be ignored or laughed at behind their back for no particular reason. However, there are that select few who are trying to make me feel a part of this social nightmare Best Buy has to offer. Then again, it is a business, and I'm there for work... so screw feelings.

Maybe I think too much into these things. Maybe I'm just self-loathing and looking for a problem. Dammit, it's raining again...

Oh man, it's been like 200 years since I last updated. Many things have have ensued since last post. Uh, for one, school's out for the summer (*insert Alice Cooper song here*). That's a good thing. Any longer and I probably would've died from a stress-induced hernia. I did, however, manage to pull all A-'s. すごいね！Now I'm home, and recently employed. Things are looking up. I did after all receive a fortune cookie that mentioned such a fortune. It just wasn't in the form I thought it would be in (like compensation for my traumatic fraud experience).

Oh yeah, I have to take Calc II this summer. Man, I get out of classes just to go take more classes. Eh, it's not so bad. No more math classes after this! :D

I can't believe I didn't really study for finals today. This is bad. I have a Calculus final on Thursday and no clue as to how to do anything. I have a lot to learn in just a few days. Ugh, college is rough. It has to be the most stressful thing in the world aside from eBay. Speaking of which, I'm not having a good time with it. I'm about to beat up some lady. I'll try to contain myself though to preserve a little bit dignity. I just wish this school year would be over with already, because with that comes the end of the cycle of my credit card statement and all worries will be evaporated... for now. I wish I could go on vacation. So many people I know are doing amazing and exciting things abroad this summer or next school year, while I continue on with my mundane life that includes going to as far as South Street and back. I also feel like some people don't appreciate how good they got it. Not to seem all "everything sucks for me", but there's a possibility that I won't have a job summer and I won't be able to go anywhere till 2013. Which by then Doomsday would've already happened and I would be put out of the misery of my oh so boring life. I need to get over myself. I have a great mom and a cool dog.

I haven't updated in a while. There's a reasonably good reason for this I suppose. Lost $250 a couple weeks ago, so I've been furiously trying to make the money back by selling everything I can possibly sell on ebay because, quite frankly, I'm poor. It's sad because I'm selling some of my post prized possessions... like a Yotsuba&! Danboard figure, and my much loved WESC Bongo headphones. But oh well, this is what I get for being utterly careless. The good news is that so far I've made nearly all of the money back. In other news, my mom is coming to the city on a business trip tomorrow. Very happy! I miss her very much. Also, school is just about over. Only a week and a day left of classes, then finals. I hope I do well. I wouldn't wish the pain of retaking any of the classes I'm in on anyone. Especially Discrete Math... anything but Discrete Math (which I have to take the second part next year. YAY!).

Yep, another healthy day if I do say so myself!

Oh yeah! Just watched the first episode of the newest season of Fullmetal Alchemist. I almost screamed, it was so awesome. It seemed more like fan service than an actual episode though. But hey, I'm not complaining.

So as I think about things college kids think about (like changing major, money-woes, etc.), I like to listen to Matt and Kim to cheer me up! They are awesome and I want to be as happy as these people one day. Check them out.You won't be disappointed.

So the DSi came out this past weekend, huh? The matte blue one looks so enticing. But, I just can justify the fact of losing my slot-2 in my DS for two cameras and pretty colors (and the fact that I can't sacrifice $170 on an upgrade). Oh well, the pretty colors will have to wait.

This past weekend was also Philadelphia's Sakura Sunday Cherry Blossom Festival. I'm sure it would've been awesome... had I gone. Subway tokens are expensive and I needed food! XD

And yet another week is off to a close. I feel like this half of the semester is going by insanely fast. By the time Monday rolls around, it's almost Wednesday and the next thing I know, it's Friday. But yay, that much closer to the end of the school year. Speaking of such, I have to do some mad job hunting for the summer since the economy pretty much blew my chances at another internship. I want to work for the Geek Squad!

Anyways I'm clearly putting off my Discrete Math homework. Sitting here blogging and watching a passing thunderstorm while kids run for their lives is way more fun.

Tuesday: T for Trauma

I often wonder if I'm pursuing the right major. I see kids, a year or so behind me, whose programming skills far surpass mine. That many people can't have a natural "knack" at these kinds of things. I don't know, perhaps I need to practice more... or just hang out in Wachman Hall (the alleged computer science vortex) and gain knowledge from others via osmosis.

Maybe I need to stop angsting over it. An Auntie Anne's pretzel might help.

Bananas...FML

So Friday I found out through a series of embarrassing events that I have a food allergy to raw bananas. Never did like those suckers anyways...

... well whatever. Current obsessions time:

1. Koopiskeva (youtube) - this person makes the best amv's. I don't even like amv's, however I can't help but watch these over and over again. Below is "Skittles" for The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. The music is awesome (psh, because Diggy Mo is in it). I also really liked "Momentum" for 5 Centimeters Per Second. I have no feelings, and I was close to crying.

2. Pokemon Platinum (DS game) - what can I say, I love those Pokemans.

3. ART-SCHOOL and UNDER THE COUNTER (JRock artists) - when I went to New York, I made a lot of JRock blind buys at Book Off. Good thing I did! ART-SCHOOL's "Requiem for Innocence" is an awesome CD. Same can be said for UNDER THE COUNTER's "World and Marbles".

4. jmignited.com (website) - Thank god for a website like J-Music Ignited. Everyday I find someone new and awesome. Great artist reviews, especially from admin akfgfan. What can I say, they obviously have great taste.

5. Cheap sesame chicken from China House (food) - what can I say, I love $5 pints.

Talked to my professor today... feels like I got a load off my chest. Maybe I should've talked to him sooner. Thing is, I need to stop worrying about the other super-awesome, great-at-everything people in my class, and start worrying about myself. Not everyone is an obvious genius.

I've been so preoccupied with my own little academic tragedies that I forgot what day it was today. It wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't my mother's birthday. I felt so bad that I was ready to cry. So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! I cannot apologize enough for forgetting to wish you a happy birthday.

On a lighter note...

The TUAC New York trip this past weekend was a nice getaway from the horrors of university. For once it was a beautiful day (usually it rains, snows, sleets, or a combination of all when we go). Couldn't ask for better weather. We went to all the best Japanese-goods places such as Kinokuniya, Book Off, and Uniqlo. I'm a major sucker for Kinokuniya despite their outrageously high prices, but it's worth it.

Of course there was karaoke. Before this trip, I had always been intimidated by the others of the group when it came to karaoke. However the group was much smaller this time so I belted it out. I sang 「はてしなくとおいそらに」 by THE STAND UP. I was pretty nervous, being it was my first time singing a full-on Japanese song in "public". But I owned it. Of course me an a friend sang quite a few angry American songs as well to let off some steam. It was catharsis at its best.

After a full day of walking around New York City, buying stuff, and eating food, it's no wonder you're super tired. So it was nice to take a terrific nap on the two hour bus ride back to Philadelphia.

However, even the best weekends must come to an end... and that takes us to where I am now, in Hell once again.
